Welcome

Welcome! Never say never.  A longtime blog critic, I am surrendering to the world of online publishing.  Not wanting to be an unknown author, and knowing the power of a photograph, here is a face to put with the name.

Welcome to what will be  . . . well, I’m not sure yet.  An attorney first, a road racer second, and then a beginning mountain biker and a semi-regular commuter, I expect my blog will span each of those personas.

I am an associate attorney with the Seattle firm of Stritmatter Kessler Whelan Coluccio – a well-known formidable force representing injured people.  www.stritmatter.com

Life as a cyclist in an urban environment comes with many risks.  Road surfaces range from great to adequate to unbelievably dangerous – if you went down on the train tracks near Fred Meyer, you are in the club!  The attitudes of drivers range from aggressive to oblivious to tolerant to attentive and respectful.  The fact is that when its car v. bike, we cyclists lose every time.  I never recommend anyone navigate the aftermath alone.

On this blog you can look forward:

  • product reviews (when you find a blinky light that cars can see, the world needs to know)
  • legal information that you can actually use – bikes are held to the same standard as cars
  • stories of racing
  • close calls with cars
  • discussion about Seattle’s master bike plan
  • identification of those notoriously dangerous spots in the city
  • musings about life as a cyclist in Seattle
